May is here and with it comes warmer conditions and lots of changes in the fishing. The biggest change is the arrival of live bait and the many predators that follow them. We will catch many different types of bait to catch the wide variety of species targeted this month (Grouper, Amberjack, King Mackerel, Trout, Redfish, Bluefish, and Spanish Mackerel). Also the seas are generally calmer. I usually spend most of my time pursuing larger amberjack but many options are available. Red Snapper season does not open until June 1st this year. Currently I am seeing more and bigger snappers than I have seen in my lifetime. Snapper season is going to be awesome. June is filling up fast so book early. June and July are by far our busiest months.

If you are interested in catching a trophy fish such as large Tarpon(120 to 220 lbs) the season starts in late June and lasts through July. If you are interested in Tarpon fishing it is suggested that you book early.
